Are Your Beliefs Limiting Your Success?
The beliefs we hold impact our lives in a very powerful way, both positively and negatively, whether we realize it or not. We are often unaware of our beliefs, particularly our negatives ones, and they can be the culprits hindering the fulfillment we are looking for in life.
Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or think you can’t, you are always right.”
With a bit of focus, we can bring our beliefs to the surface and identify them. Then we can work with the limiting or negative ones in such a way that we create possibilities for ourselves rather than allowing a vague, likely false belief, to sabotage our success.
Following is a simple exercise to enable you to transform the false beliefs you currently hold as true. Think of an area of your life where you would like to take some step to feel more successful or fulfilled. For example: starting your own business, going for that promotion, or having a life you really want. Then think of what belief you hold about that action that is getting in your way. For example: I’m not smart enough, educated enough, organized enough, don’t deserve, it -- whatever it is that you say to yourself about this indicates the belief.
Write the belief (what you say to yourself) _____________________________________
What is the evidence that this is true? (hint: there may be none) ________________________________________________________________________
What is the evidence that this is false? ________________________________________________________________________
What is the opposite or flip side of your belief? ________________________________________________________________________
Is there any evidence that this is true? Probably YES!! Can you embrace this as a possibility?
Congratulations!!! You’ve just moved from beliefs that were interfering with your success to beliefs that are energizing, conscious, based on evidence, and certain to propel you towards living your best life!!!
Your beliefs about yourself are basic to your self esteem and satisfaction in life. Challenge those that may be stopping or limiting you by doing this little exercise.
